I GROK JOSS
Posted By Chris Crosby at 2:12 PM
Since it seems to be the subject of various message board discussions around the internet today, I reckon I should clarify the jokes about SERENITY and Joss Whedon in today's strip. I am a Joss Whedon fan, as is Owen. However, I also think it is tons of fun to inexplicably badmouth something that everyone 'versally loves.

Look for my comic next week about how PIXAR is the worst animation studio in history! * 20 comments

Just another pair of losers, who attack Joss because he's FAR more successful than they will ever be! Awwww! Get over it you smegma sucking ass stains!

Joss is the worse thing to come to movies sicne Quentin Tarantino. There's a reason Firefly got cancelled, cause it sucked.

Heh, I got it the second I read it XD

*baps anonymous with a crowbar* Whiner. 'Sides after Buffy, the guy deserves at least a few attacks >__> .... though he did help with Titan A.E. .... hmmmm .... tough one :/

I hate Joss Whedon for one reason: He write the best comic books around, but he writes them so damn far apart. If you're going to write movies and TV shows, do that and stick to it. If you wanna write comics, then do that and just that and do it on time for christ's sake.

Serenity will probably be my next rental. I hated Firefly at first, but after a while it grows on you. The man deserves his props just for getting a dead show to the big screen.

I'm a Browncoat, I love Firefly and Serenity. Joss is a creative genius. I liked Buffy and Angel too, just not as much. I'm so glad this post was written or I'd have been upset with the authors. Sure, take the piss, just as long as you can back it up with reason or you don't really mean it.

I`m fairly sure I read the comic just to BE pissed off, so this delivers! :D

Such an offensive webcomic, and some people are actually surprised when they're offended?

I love racial/religious/political slurs, that's why I read this comic. I feel awesome that I picked up that quote the moment he said that, and likewise enjoy that I could be the target of such offense. :D

"Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused."

Well, you know, the fact that you actually knew that line should have been the first clue that you've at least seen the movie. lol.

And I recognised it nearly right away, too, which was fun. I was all, "Hey, that sounds famil... oi, waitaminute!" XD

TASE and his Brother The Mighty Englishman (TME) do not approve of "Toss" Whedon. He Abandoned Buffy to "The Morose Years". And He wrote "The same as anything Else" line in X-men. If He messes up Wonder Woman, then Whedon DIES!!!

TASE has spoken. All Depart.

To Scott: I think a man who can do good shows and good comics, should do both of them. I mean, with all the crap the companies spit out yearly (both in comics and shows), every scrape of good (or even decent) is valuable.

That "same thing that happens to everybody else" line was supposed to be a throwaway. Halle crapped all over it by hamming it up; it's sort of like a joke that Storm makes, but Halle isn't in on.

He mentions it in an Onion interview. I think the interview was published in Tenacity of the Cockroach.

Being a Browncoat made the strip even funnier, as it gave the most plausible reason for why the seconded best Science Fiction show ever made got canceled; “A Joss Whedon fan only counts as three-fifths of a man in this state.”

Oh, and before you say “Startrek” The Twilight Zone was the Best Ever Made.

Hate to say it, but not everyone loves Joss and Serenity/Firefly. I for one hate them.

Picked up both references first go.
I grok. Keep up the awesome work guys, and don't care what anyone says! That's what it's all about, in the end.

Who is this Joss Whedon character? Is he from Star Wars? Is that Chewbaccas real name or something?

By Anonymous Strider119, at 6:55 PM

Firefly? Serenity? They sound like names for gay, elven RP characters... or hobbits, whatever, whichever.
