CALLING ALL ARTISTS
Posted By Chris Crosby at 9:55 PM
I have been given the task of finding talented artists to team up with talented writers that are developing some fun new projects here at Keenspot. If you can produce at least three comic strips or more every week consistently and without fail and are interested in drawing a Keenspot comic, please E-Mail samples of your artwork to me at this address.

I am also looking for 3D character modelers. Those interested can also mail samples of your work to the E-Mail address above.

I'd like to make a comic, but i have doubts about how funny i'd be....i'm more of a snide comment kinda guy, not a comic book joke kinda guy. And since people make comics based on what they know, what the hell would i make? A guy who sits around on the net all day bitching about how a job doesn't fall in his lap, while downloading asian porn.

Try making a punchline to that situation....

Also, I love procrastinating, so it wouldn't be up on time most likely. Finish off with the fact that my art is about equal to that of a 12 year olds.....

You won't need to make jokes, you would just need to apply your pre-pubescent drawing ability.

Yeah, Chris clearly has writers looking for artists. Sounds like a "She's doing Felicity now" kind of situation (though obviously not Felicity). I'd like to send in some 3-d models, I'll work some up... but I wish I had an idea of what the genre would be. Do you want blobs or boobs?

Chris, can you post some summaries/examples of what kind of comics these people want to do? Just to give us artists an idea of what we're submitting for?

Hi i am pubescent,
but anyways i would like to make comics i dont care if i get paid or not my problem is i have no artist. i already know what its going to be about. But my issue is this, Do i need a story? We have jokes and stuff but we lack an artist and a story. One of the reasons I dont want a story is because it draws from the humor.those of you who read megatokyo will know what i mean.Once funny now not so funny. Some people dig tht but if i wer to write a comic story wud not be included.

Don't worry Jacob, good webcomics like Joe and Monkey and Yirmumah! have done pretty well without need of a story.

I don't claim to be an expert on writing web comics, but there are two ways you can go about it:

1 - The smart and challenging method that requires a fully functionning brain - Have some sort of meaningful message and/or grand quest involved. It doesn't have to be funny all the time, but people do like a good laugh once in awhile...

2 - The cheap and lazy method that will always make you more money - Just use a lot of pop-culture references, make fun of Dubya, and if the art's half decent, throw in as much gratuitous nudity as possible.
